Emma Green Celebrant

I totally love a unity candle ceremony.

Two flames. Two lives. One shared light.

During Sarah and Andrew’s wedding ceremony, each of them lit an individual candle to represent how they shine brightly in their own right. Those separate flames mattered. Their individuality mattered. Then, together, they used those flames to light a third pillar candle, symbolising the life they are choosing to build side by side and how they shine bigger and brighter together.

What made this moment even more special was the keepsake itself. Their candles were engraved with their names and the date of their wedding, creating something deeply personal they can take home and treasure. Long after the day has passed, that simple object will hold so much meaning.

candle ceremony is beautifully understated, but that is where its power lies. It invites presence. It slows the moment down. It gives everyone watching a chance to really feel what is happening, not just see it. For couples celebrating their love in the north west, it is a ritual that fits perfectly with relaxed, heartfelt, and values-led ceremonies.

I see so many couples across the north west drawn to symbolism that feels authentic rather than showy. A candle ceremony does exactly that. It quietly honours individuality while celebrating unity, without needing lots of explanation or performance.

Choosing a candle ceremony also allows couples to create something tangible from their wedding day. Whether it is displayed at home or lit again on anniversaries, it becomes a living reminder of promises made. For weddings held throughout the north west, it is a meaningful way to root the ceremony in intention and love.

This candle ceremony was a perfect reflection of Sarah and Andrew, thoughtful, connected, and full of heart. Holding space for moments like this, especially for couples in the north west, is honestly an absolute privilege.
