If there’s one thing you should know about me, it’s that I’m a complete sucker for a good love story.
It’s the reason I founded Emma Green Celebrant and why I genuinely believe that every couple deserves a ceremony that tells their story. Being recognised as a finalist in the Proper Northern Wedding Awards is an incredible honour because it celebrates the part of weddings I’m most passionate about – the ceremony itself.
Every Love Story Deserves to Be Told
One of the greatest privileges of my job is hearing how my couples met. I love discovering the unexpected twists, the hilarious first dates, the challenges they’ve overcome together and the dreams they’re building for the future.
Creating a ceremony isn’t something I do in a single meeting. Over weeks and months, I get to know my couples as individuals, learning about their personalities, values and what they want their wedding day to feel like. By the end of the process, many clients feel more like friends, and we often stay in touch long after the confetti has settled.
No Templates, no Cookie Cutters, just You.
Every ceremony I write is created completely from scratch.
There are no recycled scripts or copy and paste introductions because no two couples are ever the same. Your story deserves to be told in a way that feels authentic, personal and unmistakably you.
Throughout the planning process we meet several times, chat regularly and refine every detail together, ensuring your ceremony feels relaxed, meaningful and full of personality.
Inclusive Ceremonies That Celebrate Everyone
Inclusivity sits at the heart of everything I do.
I specialise in modern, welcoming ceremonies and love working with couples from all backgrounds, particularly members of the LGBTQIA+ community. Everyone deserves to feel seen, celebrated and represented on one of the biggest days of their lives.
Whether your ceremony is traditional, quirky, elegant, full of laughter or wonderfully unconventional, my goal is always the same – to create a space where you can simply be yourselves.
Making Your Ceremony Truly Personal
One of my favourite parts of creating ceremonies is weaving in meaningful symbolic rituals.
From handfasting and sand ceremonies to cocktail rituals, every element is chosen because it reflects the couple’s relationship. Family members often take part with readings or rituals, children are included where appropriate, and yes, even beloved dogs have left a paw print on the certificate!
These little touches transform a ceremony into something guests remember long after the wedding day.
Calm, Reassurance and Support on the Day
When your wedding day arrives, I want you to focus on enjoying every second.
That’s why I only ever book one ceremony each day. I arrive at least 90 minutes early to set everything up, liaise with suppliers and make sure everything is running smoothly before guests arrive.
I’ll also check in while you’re getting ready, answer any last minute questions and offer reassurance so you can let go of the logistics and simply enjoy the moment.
Celebrating Every Chapter of Life
Although weddings are at the heart of my business, they’re far from the only milestone I help people celebrate.
I also create heartfelt vow renewals, naming ceremonies, gender affirmation ceremonies and celebrations of life. Every ceremony is written with the same care, compassion and attention to detail because every life story deserves to be honoured.
Why the Proper Northern Wedding Awards Matter
Being recognised in the Proper Northern Wedding Awards means so much because it’s ultimately a reflection of the trust my couples place in me.
The greatest compliment I ever receive isn’t about my writing or public speaking. It’s when a couple tells me, “That felt exactly like us,” or when guests say it was the best ceremony they’ve ever attended.
For me, that’s what success looks like.
I’m passionate about showing couples that their ceremony doesn’t have to be something they simply get through before the celebrations begin. It can be the emotional heart of the entire wedding day.
To be recognised by the Proper Northern Wedding Awards for championing that belief is something I’ll always be incredibly grateful for.
Kind Words That Mean the World
One recent bride shared these words after her wedding:
“From the minute we made our booking Emma was amazing. She is such a lovely, warm person and has a genuine interest and desire to make your day special. She was really professional throughout but somehow made it feel like she was someone that had known us for years when she spoke and conducted the ceremony. She even came to check in with me and say hi while I was getting ready. I cannot recommend her highly enough to anyone that is looking for a special person to make your big day perfect. I’m very grateful to her, especially when I got the giggles mid ceremony and she didn’t even skip a beat. Book her, you will not be disappointed!”
Whether or not I take home the trophy, being shortlisted in the Proper Northern Wedding Awards is already something I’ll treasure. It reminds me why I started Emma Green Celebrant in the first place, to tell extraordinary love stories, celebrate people exactly as they are, and create ceremonies that couples and their loved ones will remember for years to come.
Thank you to every couple who has trusted me to be part of your story. You are the reason being a finalist in the Proper Northern Wedding Awards means so much.
